Get on TRACK for the TAKS!
UT has formed a new institute called IPSI (Institute of Public School Initiative). One of the institute's programs is called TRACK (TAKS Readiness and Core Knowledge) designed to help 11th graders prepare for the TAKS test. It has learning materials and diagnostics in the subject areas tested on the TAKS.
The program is anonymous and has unlimited use at no charge to the student, teacher, or parent. The web site is www.track.uttelecampus.org and the phone number for questions is 1-800-839-7637. This is something our members could share with the students and parents they work with to help students prepare for this very important test.

The Best of Texas Awards recognizes the very best in Career and Technology Education – students, alumni, and community groups. Student winners receive scholarships and are presented with a very nice plaque.
The 2003-04 event will be held at the Robert Johnson Building, Central Meeting Room #2 on April 30, 2004 beginning at 9:00 a.m. One change in the application is that students must be seniors. This change was made so that our graduates may use the monetary awards towards postsecondary education. Juniors usually had to wait an additional year. This is an excellent opportunity for your Trade and Industrial students who are doing an outstanding job to be recognized. It is essential to provide a tangible incentive for people to excel and for others to also strive to reach that point of recognition.
