Purpose

Sigma Chapter of the national Iota Lambda Sigma society sponsors an essay contest to encourage academic achievement.  Students enrolled in all trade and industrial related classes are required to use their academic writing skills as they compete in this contest.

Eligibility

Purpose:

To recognize senior Career and Technology Education Students (CTE), alumni and community members who are doing an outstanding job worthy of recognition. It is essential to provide a tangible incentive for people to excel and for others to strive to reach the point of recognition.

Purpose:
To recognize a Career and Technical Education Student that has been involved with Texas SkillsUSA, their community and have maintained a 2.0 grade point average or higher. 
The scholarship is for $200.00 and is awarded directly to the student.

Eligibility:
Student must be a member of Texas SkillsUSA and enrolled in a CTE course.  The instructor must be a professional member of SkillsUSA and an active member of TIVA.

How to Enter:

Complete the application form.(see link "Download" below)
Complete the following criteria:

1) Obtain letters of reference from reputable sources.
  a) Outside school organizations, individuals or civic organizations.
2) Prepare supporting evidence.
  a) Two letters of recommendation from CTE Instructors, Counselor or Administrator.
3) Written Biographical page addressing these issues:
  a) Educational and career goals.
  b) Academics and extracurricular activities, awards and achievements.
  c) Hobbies and interests.
  d) Employment history (if any).
  e) Special circumstances (include financial need).
4) Must include digital photograph of student and email to linda@tiva.org with subject title:  “Scholarship Photo”
5) Also include signed permission form by parent/guardian in order to have student’s photograph published in TIVA Newsletter
    and/or TIVA Electronic Newsletter.
6) Deadline:  Must be postmarked by April 19, 2007.
