CTE New TEKS Adopted - Go Into Effect Sept. 2010
9/9/09: The CTE TEKS were adopted by the State Board of Education (SBOE) at their July 2009 meeting. They will go into effect September 1, 2010. Click here to read the newly adopted TEKS and courses.
The CTE TEKS will have new PEIMS numbers that will be available at the end of this year. Each career cluster will have its own subchapter in the new19 TAC Chapter 130, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Career and Technical Education.
Click here to read the newly adopted middle school CTE TEKS: 19 TAC, Chapter 127, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Career Development, Subchapter A. Middle School. These went into effect Sept 1, 2009. Certified CTE teachers should be able to teach these new middle school courses. The Career Portal courses should be taught by a teacher certified in that career cluster. Note that this is the last year that Career Investigations will be offered.
This fall CTE educators will be trained by TEA to help their colleagues implement their new TEKS. Implementation professional development conferences will be offered through various venues including CTE teacher associations, services centers, etc. TIVA will be including this implementation professional development in our conferences.
