The STEM Challenge Scholarship

12/15/09: WACO – Gov. Rick Perry today was joined by state and education leaders at Texas State Technical College to promote a $100 million initiative to help students pursuing degrees and certificates in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields receive the education necessary to compete in the global workforce.

Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) Survey

12/14/09:  The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is conducting a short survey on the impact that Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) has on preparing students for post-secondary success. The electronic survey, available at https://landry.tea.state.tx.us/TEA_Survey/Curriculum/IPC2009/IPC Survey 2009.htm  through January 7, 2010, consists of 10 questions and should take only a few minutes to complete. Although this survey is voluntary, your district’s participation is appreciated.

More Flexibility in Graduation Plans for Texas

At the State Board of Education meeting on November 4, 2009, they gave preliminary approval to revisions to two high school graduation plans to bring them in line with the Recommended High School Program.  TIVA lobbied this past session for more flexibility in Texas' graduation plans that would allow all students more opportunities to pursue their educational and career goals.  Click here to read more.
